This is a perfect induction to riding in South America. From the dynamic heart of Buenos Aires to the remote high altitude salt flats in the Andes, from the white washed adobe churches to the mysterious Nasca Lines, this is quintessential South America, along with some of the best riding on the planet. You can climb the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, take a reed boat out on Lake Titicaca and visit Che Guavara’s home.
Forming Stage 3 Perth to Sydney of the Round the World Ride, Explore our Earth, you’ll be truly traversing the whole of this continent, from West to East and North to South. We’ll explore the Red Centre, a sunburnt region, home to time-worn landscapes and the timeless rhythms of Aboriginal culture. Red hills and fiery sunsets, dinosaur footprints and Aboriginal carvings, colourful characters and rustic pubs will all be part of our journey.
The Trans-Canada expedition takes you from west to east across the world’s second largest county and the widest part of the American continent. We journey through the breathtaking Rocky Mountains and across the vast Canadian central plains before pushing into boreal forests home to bear, elk moose and caribou. We are off the beaten track in Ontario and Quebec before we take on the mighty Labrador - a land where time stands still and the journey takes you through little explored mountains and forests.
Forming Stage 1 London to Xi’an along the Silk Road of the Round the World Ride, Explore our Earth, this first stage takes us from London to China in just 8 weeks! Leaving Europe behind, we enter Istanbul and head east following the route of ancient merchants and in the tracks of Marco Polo. We will overnight in caravanserais, traverse the deserts of Karakum, cross the Yellow River and scale the Great Wall of China. Our first eight weeks are packed with adventure!
Forming Stage 4 of Explore our Earth, Nairobi to Cape Town, this ride is the very essence of Africa, with all its challenges, frustrations, natural wonders, wildlife and tribes. Amidst the emptiness of the Skeleton Coast, the thunder of Victoria Falls, the roar from the Serengeti, the scent of Zanzibar spices or playing football on the shores of Lake Malawi, African roads will be as unpredictable, inspiring and challenging as African life itself.
Forming Stage 6 - Panama to Los Angeles of the Round the World Ride, Explore our Earth, this is the final stage to our around the world journey and delivers an explosion of colour and chaos, just to keep you on your toes! It’ll be an intense few weeks on the road as we squeeze past old smoky buses, visit ancient Mayan ruins, marvel at the volcanic peaks and jungle landscapes, experience fiery sunsets over the Pacific Ocean and stroll through the exquisite colonial towns in Mexico.
Forming Stage 1 of the Trans Americas ride, you cross the Arctic Circle and experience the remote tundra, home to caribou & bears and then ride through the monumental ice fields in British Columbia. So little traffic and so many perfect miles, makes Alaska and Canada a pure joy. Not to be outdone, the USA delivers incredible scenery through endless national parks in the heart of the Rockies.
Stage 2 of the Trans Americas and the colours, noise and chaos of Mexico & Central America will certainly challenge your senses and riding skills! The incredible highlands of Guatemala, the Mayan ruins in Mexico, the tropical jungles and the smoking volcanoes in Costa Rica means that this part of the world will be rattling your senses along time after you have left.
Stage 3 of the Trans Americas follows the spine of the Andes to the Atacama Desert. Dispel the myths of Colombia – it’s a biking paradise, with consistently twisty roads through a tropical paradise! Cross the Equator and explore the Andean cultures in Ecuador & Peru - bowler hats, llamas, coca tea and guinea pigs await! Then traverse the driest desert in the world – the Atacama, with a final challenge of the the high Andes passes of Paso de Jama and Los Libertadores to the Chilean capital, Santiago.
Stage 4 of the Trans Americas is all about Patagonia. This remote, but incredibly beautiful part of the world, at the most southern tip of South America will steal your heart. Set in both Chile and Argentina, this region offers an amazing combination of dirt and tarmac riding through a unique and undisturbed wilderness. Against a backdrop of turquoise lakes, jagged granite mountains and blue glaciers, we ride through "off the beaten track" places and stay with a local family on their working estancia to enjoy traditional roast lamb.
Combine the first 2 stages of Trans Americas and you get this ten week ride offering superb riding in the USA and Canada through National Parks, such as Jasper & Banff, Grand Canyon, Arches & Yellowstone. Then Mexico and Central America throws in the latino spirit, visiting ancient Mayan sites such as Palenque and Copan, rain forests in Costa Rica, perfectly preserved colonial Mexican towns and the hustle of local indigenous markets.
Combine stages 3 and 4 of the Trans Americas and follow the spine of the Andes down the continent.
