Hire Bikes

For "GlobeBusters Epic" and "GlobeBusters Overland" trips, we offer a choice of hire bikes. Whilst the majority of riders on these style of trips prefer to use their own bike, we understand that this may not always be possible. All our hire bikes are UK registered bikes, are owned and maintained by GlobeBusters and are prepared for the Expedition by our BMW qualified mechanic.

During our many years of world travel experience, we have always relied on the BMW GS Range. Founders, Kevin & Julia Sanders, completed two Guinness World Records using the R1150GS and R1150GS Adventure, have ridden on the F650GS Dakar and, in later years, have clocked up hundreds of thousands of miles using the R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure.  We are now also using the new and lighter F800GS as well.

GlobeBusters have seen these bikes perform on their long distance overland rides, amassing a cumulative total of more than a million miles and we have yet to see a major failure that has resulted in a rider not being able to complete an Expedition.

We offer the following bikes.

Riders Requirements

Riders must have a full motorcycle licence and should have a minimum of 2 years experience of riding larger bikes. For riders who will be riding their own motorcycles, the bike needs to be appropriate and adequate to ride on this type of journey.  It must be a dual sport motorcycle of at least 600cc.   We strongly recommend for Epic and Overland Expeditions that the bike is equipped with spoked wheels and aluminium panniers.

Riders must be confident and competent road riders and whilst off-road riding experience is beneficial, it is not essential. What is more important is your own attitude to motorcycle overlanding. You need to be flexible and adaptable if the going gets tough, have the ability to take a positive view to overcome the challenges that riding in developing countries will throw at you and keep a good sense of humor and team spirit.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding your or your bikes suitability for an expedition with GlobeBusters then e mail or call us.   We will be happy to discuss this with you.
